Hua Hin Overview

The old fishing village that became the first beach resort since King Rama VII built his Klai Kangwon
(Far From Worries) Palace on 1928 which remains until this today an official royal residence and is now
the full-time residence of His Majesty the King of Thailand.

Beside the beautiful curving bay and long white sand beach, the old world charm has continued attract
tourists who search for relaxing holidays and special atmosphere.

Getting There
Hua Hin, which literally means stone head in Thai, is 281 kilometers far from Bangkok or about 100 kilometres to the north of Prachuap Khiri Khan. There are many ways to get there.

Car : 3-4 Hr.
From Bangkok, drive for about 3 hours along the highway 35 (Thon Buri-Pak Thao route) via Samut Songkhram then turn left to the Highway No. 4 (Phetkasem Road) via Phetchaburi and Hua Hin to Prachuap Khiri Khan, a total distance of 281 kilometres.
Another route might otherwise be taken from Bangkok via Buddhamonthon, Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan, a total distance of 320 kilometres.

Bus : 3-4 Hr.
Air conditioned busses; run by Hua Hin Pran Tours, leave Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal, starting
at 4am until 10.20pm. Tel 02-884 6192

The same service departs for Bangkok from Sra Song Road just south of Dechanuchit Road.
The first is at 3.00am and regularly thereafter until 9.00pm.
Booking is not usually required unless it is a Thai holiday. The journey costs 140 baht end up at Sai Dtai bus station in Bangkok.

There are also non air-conditioned buses which travel between the market on Srasong Road in Hua Hin and the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok around the clock. These take 3 to 4 hours and are somewhat cheaper than the PranTour buses.

Train : ~4 Hr.

Travelling Around Hua Hin
You can explore this town by walk as the centre of Hua Hin is quite concentrated. The Post office or
major banks are a few kilometers away from wherever you stay.

Variety of transport is available in Hua Hin;
• Motorcycle taxis, and Taxis
• Tuk Tuk (3 or 4 wheeled, open sided taxis) ,
• Public transport or Songtaews (Green trucks run the same route from Hua Hin night market, down
Petchkasem road, you can get on or off at any stage during the journey)

Always agree a price with any driver/rider before setting off. This will negate the chances of any
misunderstanding afterwards.

outrageous simply walk away and find an alternative mode of transport.
